Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Virgin

Saint Faustina Kowalska (1905–1938) was a Polish nun of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy and the "Secretary of Divine Mercy." Living a humble life as cook, gardener, and doorkeeper in various convents, Faustina received extraordinary revelations from the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded Faustina to have the Image of Divine Mercy painted with the inscription "Jesus, I Trust in You," to propagate the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and to establish the Feast of Divine Mercy on the First Sunday after Easter. Her spiritual Diary records Christ's unfathomable mercy for sinners. Pope John Paul II canonized Saint Faustina in the year 2000, establishing Divine Mercy Sunday for the Universal Church.
